The Bell Inn
A must see, when visiting Nottingham, the Bell Inn is a traditional 15th Century Coaching Inn situated on The Old Market Square in the historic city of Nottingham. It is two timber-framed buildings, masked by an early nineteenth century façade.
Sitting on a labyrinth of sandstone caves, the Georgian style frontage masks the two medieval buildings built of crown-post structure and contains architraves following the design of the original 15th century building.
The Bell Inn has been serving great ale since the time when a group of Carmelite Friars arrived in 1276 and many visitors enjoy a pint of real ale now as they did many years ago.
The Bell Inn was voted Nottingham Camra Pub of the Year 2006, it received a Heritage Award in 2003 and a Pub of Excellence Award in 2005 from Nottingham CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).
The Bell also has a very unique and interesting history, which spans centuries and has constantly evolved into the fine Inn it is today.
Why not visit the Inn, participate on a cellar tour (meet in the Snack Bar on Tuesday & Thursday evenings, 7.30 pm prompt) and learn even more about this fascinating part of England’s history, and the sandstone beer cellars below. Booking enquiries can be made by contacting us via thus website (see the “Contact” link at the top of this page)
During Sunday afternoons, as well as Sunday, Monday, Tuesday evenings, why not experience a whole two hours of the best in live music ranging from Jazz bands to skiffle from the Last Pedestrians
We hope you enjoy your visit to the Bell Inn.
